Airport debacle another embarrassment for publicity-seeking officials

News that startup airline Pacific Wings has pulled out of negotiations to fly trans-Tasman routes out of Invercargill should be very embarrassing indeed for council-owned Holdco and the city council.

The demise of yet another proposal for the airport – and the amateurish, hamfisted way news of the sensitive commercial negotiations was handled – should also set alarm bells ringing for any other international airline eyeing the city. Continue reading
